What's Underneath

Believe it or not, this was actually homework~
I made sure that it was...! >.>;;
I'll explain:
in my AP art class, there are no assignments, we just do "whatever we want"-- but in order for it to actually be considered an assignment it has to be realitively artistically extensive. Most of my Vegeta work would not be considered good enough to make it into the breadth section of my portfolio, (aside from Dethronement of the Prince and perhaps a few others) and I really wanted to make another Vegeta work for school.
When I first started sketching this a few weeks ago, it was simply to ease my stress...I wasn't planning on making it anything "great." But...that night I got in a huge argument with my parents about Vegeta. It had me so upset and pissed off...they told me it was a waste of time and that I was ruining my life and that I should be working on my art "assignments" and there's "no such thing as being in love with a cartoon." etc. So that's when I told myself I was going to try my damndest to make this piece worthy of an AP portfolio. Did I suceed? I don't really know... I've been working on it so long I can't even tell anymore u.u
After that argument with my parents, I took the line art of it to school and showed my art teacher and she thought it was beautiful. (My parents had told me that my art teacher hated my anime work. Um, no -_-)
So after that, I took it home and began shading it. For the longest time I left the background unshaded, until yesterday when I decided to finish it. It took me 7 hours just to shade the background! D:
Sadly, if I'm going to use "Dethronment of the Prince" and this in my portfolio, then I'm sure I won't be entiled to draw yet another Vegeta picture for school. So in a way...this is my last Vegeta pic I'll draw until the summer without feeling extremely guilty for not drawing other things...);
My art teacher hasn't seen this final shaded version yet, so I don't really know for sure if she'll think it's good enough to use until tomorrow.
BUT ANYWAY-- enough about that,
I would also like to say that I am dedicating this to for her birthday!!! LOVE YOU!
Sorry I didn't have any time to draw you a more personalized gift hun, but I was drawing this around the time of your birthday so it just made sense to dedicate it to you!!! ;3
As for the actual picture itself...
Here we have Vegeta lying sexily, showing off his belly against a background of merged scenery that I feel as though describes his life (kind of.) >.o;
As for the title....it partly comes from some of my feelings toward Vegeta visually when I watch him in the show. It's so rare that you get to see Vegeta's bare midsection....so....so it's like,,, as if he were to reveal the beautiful body that you know is there under his skin-tight clothing that we usually must always only imagine in it's nakedness...and also what's underneath himself, his past and all the things that make him who he is and,,,stuff...did that make sense? D;
Anyway, if you were all wondering why I haven't been logged on to DA in a long time, this is why. And all of my other homework too of course. Blah blah blah. >>
